On December 10, scientific-practical conference was held at Sumgayit State University entitled “The life dedicated to the nation”, devoted to commemoration day of National leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev.

At first the participants laid flowers in front of the bust of Great leader at university foyer and commemorated his memory.

Rector of university Professor Elkhan Huseynov commenced the conference with welcome speech and spoke about the life, activity and historical services of genius leader for his homeland. “It has passed 15 years from Heydar Aliyev’s death. Our people never forget his historical services and honor his memory. Sumgayit State University also holds a series of events as a sign of respect and honor to National leader Heydar Aliyev’s memory. Organization of essay competitions, round tables, scientific-practical conferences and other commemoration events is a sign of great love to him. As a result of Heydar Aliyev’s successful policy Azerbaijan has been escaped from the threat of collapse and turned to be a developing state. Uniting nation around himself, he prevented insidious intents of internal and external forces. Sustainable development policy run by Great leader is successfully carried out by the President Ilham Aliyev. Several large-scale projects are conducted under the leadership of Mehriban Aliyeva, the first vice-president of Azerbaijan Republic. Independent Azerbaijan is confidently moving forward to the great future with immortal ideas of National leader”.

Afterwards, following persons made speeches accordingly: head of the Department of Azerbaijan and Easter European nations’ history Professor Shirkhan Salimov – “Heydar Aliyev’s life and political activity”, head of the Department of Azerbaijani and foreign countries’ literature Professor Avtandil Mammadov – “Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijani literature”, head of the Department of Business administration and management docent Galib Huseynov – “Rapid development of Azerbaijani economy is a successful policy of National leader Heydar Aliyev”, II course student of Philology faculty Nazrin Adigozalzade – “Heydar Aliyev is a founder of Azerbaijanism ideology”. The speakers spoke about wise and pragmatic policy of Heydar Aliyev, as well as his attention and care to the improvement of education and to young generation. Modern Azerbaijan is rapidly developing and strengthening its position among world countries.

At the end, the documentary “Genius” about life and activity of Great leader was displayed.
