On October 5, Sumgayit State University held the event on occasion of International Teachers’ Day.

Rector of university Professor Elkhan Huseynov commenced the event with welcome speech, congratulated all Azerbaijani teachers on occasion of this notable day, and wished them success on their pedagogical activity. He notified that International Teachers’ Day is a holiday of teachers who devoted their lives to the future of the nation. Widely speaking about state care to the development of education in our country and achievements gained by education employees, rector noted that the accomplishment achieved in education by Sumgayit State University is a result of its teachers’ work. “The society is forming and advancing thanks to their work. Great leader Heydar Aliyev always evaluated teachers and expressed his goodwill about them. He respected teachers and cared about their financial state and prosperity” said the rector. Professor Elkhan Huseynov emphasized that after advent of National leader Heydar Aliyev to power education began to advance as all the fields; this advancement went on in the administration of Ilham Aliyev, great strides have been made toward integrating Azerbaijani education to world education system. The rector pointed out that recently several state programs were adopted on development of education, great achievements were gained in improvement of human capital in the result of President Ilham Aliyev’s policy “Transforming black gold into human capital” and all these realized works contributed to the quality increase in education. The prestige of teachers has increased significantly by successful education policy and this expanded creativity opportunities of teachers. All these attainments prove purposefulness of Ilham Aliyev’s policy conducted in the field of education.

Afterwards a group of lecturers were awarded with honorary diplomas and presents for actively participating at social life of the university, for their scientific-pedagogical activity and services in improvement of education by university administration, Azerbaijani Education Employees Free Trade Union Republican Confederation, as well as Free Trade Union Committee of the university.

“Sema” dancing group of the University, popular artists and art figures of the Republic congratulated professor-teacher staff with their performances.

The event went on with concert program.
