October 5 – International Teachers’ Day celebrated in Sumgayit, too. Head of Sumgayit city Executive Power Zakir Farajov congratulated teachers of 50 secondary schools and veteran education employees on occasion of this notable day, expressed his best goodwill and wished them success. He emphasized that care and attention of Great leader Heydar Aliyev to Azerbaijani education is successfully continued. In recent years, wide-ranging measures are being set in the advancement of education recently, material-technical base of education institutions is strengthened, substantial strides are made toward raising social protection of teachers. As a result, graduates of Sumgayit schools show high results in exams, gain achievements in subject Olympiads.

It was noted that 4070 teachers are engaged in educating 53237 students in Sumgayit and new attainments are achieved. These achievements are the result of care and attention of President Ilham Aliyev and first lady, the president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyev. It was also mentioned in the event that the name of teacher is the symbol of intelligence and spiritual purity and deserves high respect.

Education employees, who delivered speech, expressed their gratitude to the President on behalf of Sumgayit teachers for care and attention to Azerbaijani education.

At the end, several teachers were awarded with honorary diplomas and presents for their service in advancement of education. Among them were 2 lecturers of Sumgayit State University: deputy dean of Faculty of Mathematics docent Hijran Aliyeva and senior lecturer of Department of Pedagogy and Psychology Shahnaz Guliyeva.
