On October 23, the next meeting of Scientific Council was held at Sumgayit State University. The meeting was opened by the rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov. He welcomed the members of the Council and introduced them the agenda.

The results of introspection, conducted in connection with the upcoming accreditation at SSU in the 2019-2020 academic year, were made by vice-rector for Science and Innovations Professor Ramazan Mammadov. He said that according to the order of the rector № R-44/1 dated 24.07.2019, in order to prepare for the upcoming accreditation, which will be held in 2020, a self-analysis committee consisting of 29 people has been created. First of all, a catalog of test subjects was prepared at the faculties. In these subjects, teachers and head of departments prepared tests, and an exam was held for graduate students. Vice-rector noted that on the basis of these criteria, a self-analysis report was prepared, consisting of 11 points and 54 subparagraphs. The report presents such issues as the organization of mutual activities of structural units of SSU; compliance of university management with the requirements of its charter; compliance of educational documents drawn up at the university with the requirements of the law; compliance of the content of subjects presented in the curriculum and their programs with state educational standards; the dynamics of research and development of international relations; participation in international programs; material and technical base of the university, etc.

Head of the Doctorate and Master Programs Office docent Sabir Khalilov spoke about the state of the implementation of research work by doctoral and PhD students. He said that in the 2009-2019, 194 doctoral students and PhD students studied in doctoral studies according to the program of Doctor of Philosophy, of which 97 continue their studies, and 97 have already completed it.

Then a discussion was held on a collection of articles entitled “Abadiyyatin Nasimi zirvasi” (“Nasimi peak of Literature”) in order to obtain the right to publish it. (Responsible for the issue: Professor Avtandil Mammadov). It was decided to publish this collection. Then, the members of the council approved the topic of the doctoral dissertation of associate professor Dayanat Jumanov, a dissertation candidate at the Department of Literature of Azerbaijan and foreign countries, and an academic consultant was appointed.

The granting of copyright (griffin) to teaching aids was made by the Scientific Secretary Professor Mukhtar Samedov. He noted that the Council received 23 teaching aids. After the discussions, permission was given to publish them.
