On May 14, the faculty of Mathematics organized an Olympiad among I-III year students in Mathematics  dedicated to the 60th anniversary of SSU.

First, the dean of the faculty of Mathematics, associate professor Khalida Hasanova greeted the Olympiad participants and in 2014 informed about the "Development concept of Sumgayit State University until 2025" and based on it  preparation of “the strategy of education development” at SSU  under the leadership of SSU rector professor Elkhan Huseynov. He stressed that the concept focuses on issues such as modernization of the university"s education system, integration into the world educational space, the scientific research system, and the main strategic goal is to turn SSU into a center of education and research innovation. The organization of today"s Olympiad is of great importance in terms of realizing the idea of ​​creating a scientific environment in this strategy.

The dean also said that the purpose of the olympiad is to identify talented students, increase students" interest in the subject, to allow them to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in a healthy competitive environment.  Knowledge  is the most reliable support for young people, associate professor Khalida Hasanova wished success to the participants of the olympiad.

Then, professor Nabi Gurbanov, head of the department of mathematical analysis and function theory, and professor Fikret Feyziyev head of the department of Differential equations and optimization  stressed the importance of such events in terms of creating interest in science and wished success to the olympians.

We should  note that the olympiad was held among first, second and third year students of all specialties of the faculty of Mathematics.  The olympiad organized in an open-ended form , more than 100 students demonstrated high knowledge by answering questions for 3 hours.
