On May 14, a group of teachers and students of the faculty of Chemistry and biology of Sumgayit State University visited the "Hirkan" National Park, located in the south-east of Azerbaijan, in the administrative territory of Lankaran and Astara regions.

The assistant professor of Biology and its teaching methods Rafig Huseynov, sen.lect. Zarbab Agayeva and students of group number 338, 333b, 323b participated in the excursion.

Students were given detailed information about "Hirkan" National Park. It was said  that the National Park, established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated February 9, 2004, is located in the south-east of the country, in Lankaran and Astara administrative regions. The purpose of establishing the National Park is to comprehensively protect nature in the area, protection of relict and endemic plant species of the third period, conservation of flora and fauna species included in the "Red Book" of the Republic of Azerbaijan, public awareness of environmental monitoring, as well as research, tourism and the organization of conditions for recreation.

While visiting the national park, the students got acquainted with the rich biodiversity of Hirkan-type forests and watched the unique view of Khanbulan Lake.
