SSU Professor Delivered Online Speech in International Conference Held in Edinburgh University

In the research dedicated to woman and war, the author talked about Azerbaijani women who encountered losses and became refugee.
Participants of international conference on “Gender studies and the status of women” listened lecture by SSU Professor Nigar Isgandarova, Doctor of Philological Sciences. Researchers from USA, Portugal, Spain, Great Britain, Turkey, Finland, India, Belgium, Australia, Canada, Japan, China, South Africa and other countries participated in the conference. The conference targeting to create international network for connection and support of women over the world gathered researchers from various scientific, industrial and state-run institutions. In the international forum participants discussed women’s problems in society and significant results of gender studies which became a scientific field. Topics of the lectures were actual problems meeting requirements of modern time: development history and values of feminism, support program for women in scientific academies and educational institutes of developing countries, gender problems in artistic and publicisticworks, comparative analysis of labor law in Arabian countries with related European and American documents, social and psychological study of creative women’s activities, etc.
Lecturers participated in the conference with stands (posters) and video conferencing. This kind of conferences has got strict rules: if the speech is not delivered or its discussion is not held, the lecture will not be published as a conference material. Nigar Isgenderova presented her lecture called “Women in the war: orientalist discourse” via Youtube. In the research work dedicated to woman and war, the author investigates contrast between woman nature, physiology, character and war, difficulties of gender and family institutions in modern age which is full of violence and terror; she also talks about Azerbaijani women who encountered losses and became refugee. Nigar khanum demonstrated in examples the reflection of all these incidents in world and Azerbaijani literature. Comments and questions were addressed to the author and were replied by her. According to the program, at scheduled time Nigar Isgandarova’s speech was introduced in section meeting. After all, the lecture was printed in conference materials collection.
During our interview with her Nigar Isgandarova noted that such kinds of conferences would contribute to quality of scientific research works and researchers. SSU collective wished success to Nigar khanum.
