2 February – Youth Day is celebrated in Sumgayit city, too. The event held at “Park Palace” restaurant in Sumgayit dedicated to Youth Day, by the initiative of Executive Power of Sumgayit and organization of Youth and Sports Head Office.

Head of Executive Power of Sumgayit city Zakir Farajov congratulated the youth and notified that approval of this day by the decree of great leader Heydar Aliyev is a sample of his care and attention to youth. Also, being founded by Heydar Aliyev at first years of our independence, the youth policy is carried on by President Ilham Aliyev. As a consequence of this policy Azerbaijani youth justify themselves by gaining achievements in all fields. They are employed in state authorities, private sector and other structures and contribute to the advancement of society. Drawing attention to implemented projects in Sumgayit, Zakir Farajov pointed out that all executed works serve improvement of young persons and increase of employment.

Afterwards, honorary certificates of Executive Power of Sumgayit city presented to a group of youth who participated in public life of the city and gained achievements in education and sports. And also assistant of the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Functions Theory of Sumgayit State University, PhD in mathematics Gunay Rzayeva honored with the title “Young scientist of the Year”.
