On April 23, dean election was held in Chemistry and Biology faculty. Election was realized according to “The rules for holding the position of department head, dean and deputy dean at higher education institutions” of Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic.

Dean election was arranged in the general assembly of faculty associates by the chairmanship of Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov.

Candidacy of ex-dean of the faculty, docent Mahal Muradov, after being discussed in the departments of the faculty, was nominated for holding the position of faculty dean of Chemistry and biology.

Docent Mahal Muradov presented his election program (platform) for participating at dean elections and notified that main directions of the platform are as following: renovating and augmenting equipment of laboratories, providing the library with the textbooks of subjects, that are taught in the faculty, establishing and advancing international relations of the faculty with foreign universities, creating branches of the departments under faculty in industrial enterprises, taking the students to various institutions, holding international conferences, employment of alumni, providing recognition of university and other issues.

Employees of the faculty expressed their thoughts about candidate docent Mahal Muradov. Chief of the Department of Petrochemistry and chemical engineering prof.A.Aghayev, head of the Department of Chemistry and its teaching methods docent M.Mustafayev, professor of Petrochemistry and chemical engineering G.Ramazanov, chief of the Department of Biology and its teaching methods docent A. Bakhshaliyev, professor of Chemistry and its teaching methods M.Samadov, head of the Department of Civil defense, medical and physical preparation senior lecturer T.Khalilov, head of Ecology department docent R.Ahmadova delivered speech. They noted that in last 5 years substantial achievements have been gained in the faculty.

According to regulations, members of computational commission were chosen for conducting secret ballot. Prof.A.Aghayev, docent M.Mustafayev, senior lecturer T.Khalilov, docents I.Garayeva and L.Bunyatova were suggested to Commission membership. Prof.A.Aghayev elected the chief of computational commission.

After the secret ballot, chairman of computational commission Prof.A.Aghayev read the protocol on the results of voting: 104 persons took part in the meeting and 104 bulletins were given to them. According to results, docent Mahal Muradov elected the dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and biology.

Professor Elkhan Huseynov congratulated docent Mahal Muradov and wished success to him and the staff of the faculty in their pedagogical activity. He opined: “Our university implements projects for the advancement of country’s cadre potential and gains significant achievements. Since every faculty should do its best for enlarging and modernizing the structure of cadre potential and professor-teacher staff. Therefore the faculties should set up their faculty relevant to modern demands. Sumgayit State University is among prestigious higher education institutions of the country by its achievements gained in preparation of professional specialists and has become the leading science and teaching center of the country thanks to services of President Ilham Aliyev”.

Afterwards Professor Elkhan Huseynov spoke about executed works, gained achievements, implemented projects, international relations and organized conferences within last 5 years under the leadership of docent Mahal Muradov and emphasized significance of advancing towards more essential targets. He suggested the faculty associates to expand its relations with Linguistic Center in order to learn foreign languages.

Docent Mahal Muradov expressed his gratitude to rector Elkhan Huseynov and the collective of the faculty. He gave wide information about the works to be done in the future. He said: “Several achievements gained in direction of increasing interest of students to education and preparation of cadres. Our collective will make efforts to gain better results”.
