SSU REPRESENTATIVES TOOK PART IN BOLOGNA CONFERENCE
On September 25, the “Bologna Cooperation Forum” was held by support of Embassy of Germany Federative Republic to Baku, co-organized by German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD, Bonn) and DAAD Baku Information Center.
Representatives of higher education institutions of Azerbaijan, specialists, ERASMUS+ national office director, as well as vice-rector for International Relations of Sumgayit State University docent Gafar Atayev and head of International Cooperation Department PhD in history Samira Mammadova attended the event.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Azerbaijan Wolfgang Manig spoke about Azerbaijan-German relations. He notified that DAAD has special role in expansion of academic relations and exchange process.
Executive director of political support department of German Academic Exchange System David Flores highlighted significance of the forum and noted that the common goal of the event is to support collaboration among universities of Azerbaijan and other countries that join to European Higher Education Area – Bologna process. The forum covers all areas of Bologna education system.
Deputy Head of apparatus of Education Ministry Yagub Piriyev spoke about programs and projects implemented in terms of advancement of education. “Azerbaijan joined to European Higher Education Area – Bologna process in 2005. Azerbaijan has been conducting reforms in order to increase quality of higher education in Azerbaijan”.
Staff member of Education Ministry Vusala Gurbanova gave information about higher education system of Azerbaijan and opined about effective activity of DAAD.
It should be noted that the scholars of Koln Technical University (Germany), Potsdam University (Germany), Essex University (England), Zigen University (Germany) took part in the conference and also Quality Assurance Organization in European Higher Education Area was represented. Every participant delivered presentation on history, current state and problems of Bologna System, also credit system, competences. Professor of Koln Technical University Reza Talebi Deryani spoke about 5 European projects carried out in Azerbaijan and highlighted the activity of Sumgayit State University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry, which take part in these projects as Azerbaijani partner.
