On October 14, the Public Association of Economists of Turkic Speaking States, with financial assistance of the Council of State Support for Non-Governmental Organizations under President of Azerbaijan Republic, held an educational event “Compulsory Health Insurance: advantages and prospects” at Sumgayit State University.

The event was attended by members of the Public Association of Economists of Turkic Speaking countries, dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management docent Aynura Yahyayeva, academic and student staff.

The event was opened by the head of Department of Finance and Accounting docent Logman Abdullayev. He spoke about the importance of health insurance and its role in strengthening social protection of the population, the importance of educational work among students. It was noted that health insurance is the government's concern for the health of its citizens.

In her speech, the Chairman of the Public Association of Economists of Turkic Speaking countries, PhD in economy Rasmiya Abdullayeva thanked the Council of State Support for Non-Governmental Organizations for financial support. She also spoke about the importance of compulsory health insurance, which will be adopted throughout the country, starting in 2020, its role in strengthening social protection of the population.

Afterwards the instructors delivered report: deputy chairman of Association, deputy Director for Research of Institute of Economics of ANAS, PhD Allahyar Muradov with the report “Compulsory health insurance: global experience”, deputy chairman of the Association, head of Department of "Socio-economic problems of living standards" of the Institute of Economics of ANAS, PhD, docent Parviz Hasanov with the report “State regulation of compulsory medical insurance”, member of the Association, junior researcher Melek Aliyeva with the report “Current status and prospects of compulsory medical insurance in Azerbaijan”. Speakers noted that compulsory health insurance would improve the social well-being of the population and its health.

At the end of the event, discussions were held, answers to students' questions were sounded, educational booklets were distributed. The participants of the event were shown a video on the importance of compulsory medical insurance.
