SSU EMPLOYEES TOOK PART IN THE II CASPIAN INNOVATION CONFERENCE “INTERNET OF THINGS: THE FOUNDATION OF MODERN SOCIETY”
In the framework of the 25th Jubilee International Exhibition of Telecommunications, Innovations and High Technologies “Bakutel 2019”, the II Caspian Innovation Conference “Internet of Things: the Foundation of a Modern Society” was held in Baku on December 4.
Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Elmir Velizade said that the conference was organized on the initiative of the Ministry and in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), Cambridge Central Asian Forum, Aztelecom, Baktelecom, Information and Computing Center and Azercell. E. Velizade also noted that the “Internet of Things”, “5G”, cloud technologies, big data, along with artificial intelligence technologies, have rapidly changed all areas. Deputy Minister stressed that new technologies, including the "Internet of things" are today in the focus of attention of states, international organizations and in this regard, the International Telecommunication Union and the World Economic Forum have prepared their recommendations. It was noted that the Internet of Things Laboratory was created at the Center for Application and Training of the International Union of Telecommunication Technologies with the support of Microsoft Azerbaijan. The laboratory has all the conditions for creating solutions to the “Internet of things”. A number of decisions made here are already on display at the Internet of Things booths at Bakutel.
Further, the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, Houlin Jao, spoke. He said that according to forecasts, the market for the “Internet of things” in 2025 will be $ 1 trillion, and the number of things connected to the network will reach 75 billion. The Director General of the Executive Committee of the Regional Communications Association (RCA) said that RCA is preparing a memorandum on reducing roaming tariffs among the CIS countries. The signing of this document is expected in the 2020. The decision to sign the document can be made at the level of heads of state of the CIS.
The event discussed the development of solution models, as well as the legal regulation of the application of these technologies in infrastructure, industry, agriculture and other areas.
The conference was attended by officials of regional countries, heads of coordination departments, senior representatives of international organizations, mobile operators, global vendors and integrator companies.
Sumgayit State University was represented at the conference by the vice-rector for International Relations Assoc. prof. Gafar Atayev, Director of the Center for Information Technologies Farmayil Ismayilov, as well as software engineer of the Center Murad Huseynli.
It was noted that the Caspian Innovation Conference in the coming years will cover topics such as “Artificial intelligence”, “Digital Startups and Innovative Entrepreneurship”, “Fourth Industrial Revolution”, “High-tech Production”, “Cyber Readiness”, etc.
