As a continuation of the International scientific conference “Interdisciplinary integration: linguodidactic, linguocultural and psycholinguistic aspects”, scientists from Russia, Turkey and other countries who took part in it conducted various seminars, round tables and master classes at the Faculty of Philology.

On December 20, Shukru Haluk Akalin, professor at the University of Hacettepe, held a master class on the topic “Pages from the History of Turkic Lexicography”.

Dean of the faculty docent Sevinj Hamzayeva spoke about the Azerbaijani-Turkish scientific and cultural cooperation. She noted that Professor Shukru Haluk Akalin is one of the prominent scientists representing modern Turkology. He treats the Azerbaijani language with love and respect. At the last Scientific Council of the University he was awarded a diploma of Honorary Doctor of SSU. The dean once again congratulated the professor and wished him creative success. She said that Shukru Haluk Akalin enjoys great authority not only in the Turkic world, but also among European scientists. The famous linguist made his worthy contribution to world science through his scientific research and works.

Professor Shukru Haluk Akalin expressed great gratitude to the rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov for conferring on him the title of Honorary Doctor of SSU. He said that this is an assessment not only of his personal work, but also of the entire scientific community in Turkey. The professor emphasized that he would make every effort to ensure that the scientific and educational ties of Azerbaijan and Turkey developed and strengthened.

Then Professor Shukru Haluk Akalin made a presentation “Pages from the History of Turkic Lexicography”. He also noted the importance of the “Dialectological Dictionary of the Turkish Language” in 12 volumes.

In conclusion, the professor answered numerous questions from students.
