AN ONLINE EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR “COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND THE CONTROL OF INFECTIOUS DISEASES” WAS HELD AT THE FACULTY OF ENGINEERING OF SSU
On April 25, the Faculty of Engineering and the Student Youth Organization held a joint online educational seminar “COVID-19 Pandemic and the Control of Infectious Diseases”.
The seminar was opened by the dean of the faculty associate professor Ulduz Aghayev. He spoke about the COVID-19 pandemic, which has recently swept the whole world. He noted that the coronavirus epidemic led to infection of people and thousands of patients die from it every day. The Azerbaijani government is taking serious measures to protect the population from this disease. A fund to support the fight against coronavirus was created in the country, to which President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva transferred their monthly salary. To reduce the impact of the pandemic on the economy of the republic, financial resources have been allocated, and low-income families have received and continue to receive financial assistance from the state. All this indicates that the Azerbaijani government takes care of its citizens and is doing everything to preserve their health.
The Dean emphasized that the President and the Government of Azerbaijan are taking all measures to protect the health and well-being of the country's population. We, as citizens, must also fulfill all the recommendations and instructions of our government. In accordance with the direction and recommendations of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan, in order to ensure the continuity of education, online classes are conducted at all faculties of SSU. Online classes cover all students of the Faculty of Engineering. Along with this, for the students' useful leisure activities, the University Student Youth Society organizes online meetings with students. Students demonstrate their knowledge and skills in a psychological online circle, intellectual games, conversation and art clubs, get acquainted with books.
Deputy dean Svetlana Ahmedova and deputy dean for educational work Sabina Aliyeva spoke about the coronavirus, about the ongoing preventive work to protect the health of students. At the end of their speech, they expressed gratitude to the doctors for their dedicated work in treating patients, police officers protecting their citizens and teachers who transmit their knowledge to students. The speakers encouraged students to be more active in online classes conducted under the motto “Stay home, but don’t stay away from education”
Senior lecturers Shalala Jafarova and Konul Allahverdiyeva in their speeches noted that due to the correct and timely measures taken by President Ilham Aliyev in our country, it was possible to take control of this dangerous disease. The work of the Operational Headquarters, established under the Cabinet of Ministers on the initiative of the head of state, special isolation and quarantine declared in the country yielded positive results. The speakers expressed confidence that the people together will overcome these difficult days and the country will continue to develop, because while staying at home, every citizen tries to conscientiously fulfill his official duties.
Assistant of the Department of Process Automation Gulnara Ganjali in her speech noted that holding such seminars in educational institutions is necessary. She spoke about the mechanisms of infection with infectious diseases and their prevention.
The chairman of the Student Youth Organization talked about the pandemic and the problems associated with coronavirus. Aysel Humbatova, a student of gr.621, spoke on the topic of the COVID-19 pandemic and methods of combating this disease. She then thanked the teachers for organizing the educational seminar.
