With the support of the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Union of Student Youth Organizations of Azerbaijan (USYOA) and the "Great Return" Youth Organization jointly organized a meeting with students on November 10 within the "Heroes of 44 days" project.

At the meeting organized at Sumgayit State University, first of all, the memorial monument of students-graduates who rose to the peak of martyrdom was visited in the yard of the university, and flowers were laid in front of the monument. The event began with the sound of our anthem, and then the memory of our martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence. The meeting continued with the opening speeches of the Rector of the University, Professor Elkhan Huseynov, Deputy Executive Director of the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan Gadir Khalilov and Advisor to the Executive Director of the “Great Return” Youth Organization Elshan Gahramanov.

In their speeches, the speakers noted the importance of holding such enlightening meetings on the 44-day war, noting the importance of introducing the heroic sons of the Motherland and setting an example for the younger generation.

The speeches were followed by footage of our heroes' 44-day war and a video reflecting the joy of victory of our people. Ordukhan Gahramanzadeh, Head of the Sector for Work with Member Organizations and Student Clubs of the Union of Student Youth Organizations of Azerbaijan, gave detailed information about the magazine "Azerbaijani Youth in the Patriotic War" created with the support of the Youth Foundation, and Elshan Gahramanov, Advisor to the Executive Director of the "Great Return" Youth Organization, gave detailed information about the website https://shehidimiz.az/.

Then a member of the board of the "Great Return" organization, participant of many special combat operations and the April battles, Karabakh veteran, reservist senior lieutenant of the Special Forces Ahliyat Mehdiyev spoke about how our brave army under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief put an end to 30 years of longing for the homeland and united our people to our lands under enemy occupation for years.

Veterans of the Great Patriotic War - Tarlan Hamdullayev, Efendi Balajanov and Azim Nuruyev, who were guests of the event, shared their memories of the Great Patriotic War with students. They said they were proud of the fact that the operation to ensure the territorial integrity of our country, demonstrated by our brave sons with high professionalism and the strategy of a strong state and a strong army implemented by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, has gone down in world military history. The veterans noted that the graduates of Sumgayit State University also showed great courage in the Great Patriotic War, noting the role of teachers in the upbringing of a patriotic and courageous young generation, and expressed gratitude to the staff of Sumgayit State University in this context.

The speeches were followed by a question-and-answer session with the visiting veterans. During the session, our heroes gave detailed answers to the students, stating that the main reason for their success is the impeccable strategy of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the unity and enthusiasm of our army.

Fidan Bagirova, a student of Sumgayit State University, and Tayfun Hajili, the chairman of the Student Youth Organization, thanked the heroes and said they would share their impressions, courage and unity with other students during the Great Patriotic War.

It should be noted that within the project, meetings of our young veterans of the Great Patriotic War with students of higher education institutions with large student audiences in the capital and regions continue on a regular basis.
