The next online meeting of the Scientific Council of Sumgayit State University was held on November 30.

Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov greeted the participants and informed them about the issues on the agenda, the agenda was approved.

Speaking about the results of attestation of masters, doctoral students and dissertators, the head of the doctoral and master"s department Sabir Khalilov said that the deans of faculties and heads of departments were instructed to further increase the requirements for attestation of masters, doctoral students and dissertators.

Associate Professor Samir Orujov, Head of the Scientific Department, spoke about the state of work on the placement of the Scientific News Journal of SSU in the international scientific database "Scopus". He noted that in accordance with the Strategic Development Plan of SSU, the work carried out to place the journal "Scientific News" in the international scientific database "Scopus" is satisfactory. Work is underway to get SSU a membership in the Publishing Ethics Committee (NEC) and Crossref, as well as DOI.

Ramiz Huseynov, Vice-Rector for Humanitarian Affairs, spoke about the work done to develop a new logo of SSU. The presentation of the logo of SSU in 12 newly developed variants was held at a high level and it was noted that it is expedient to study the opinion of the university staff on a larger scale to determine the new version of the logo of SSU. Gafar Atayev, Vice-Rector for International Relations, spoke on the state of student admission to SSU and the strengthening of marketing activities. He noted that SSU employees are actively involved in the trainings held by the Ministry of Education to "increase the number of foreigners involved in higher education." The direction of SSU"s Marketing Plan for the promotion of foreign students is to adopt the definition of the main target audience and instruct the Department of International Cooperation and International Students to adopt the rules of admission of foreign students to SSU and to provide information about our university to the target audience. He noted that it is expedient to ensure the active participation of SSU in international exhibitions, various portals, social networks, as well as the university"s PR campaign. Associate Professor Gafar Atayev praised the successful training of 20 English language teachers of SSU and the training started by an American specialist on October 17, 2021 for the trainings organized with the financial support of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan.

The rector instructed the vice-rector for international relations, associate professor Gafar Atayev to take appropriate measures to prepare for the next stage.

Associate Professor Gafar Atayev considered it expedient to expand the relations between the US Embassy in the Republic of Azerbaijan and SSU in the field of science, education and culture in order to increase the capacity of the teaching staff of SSU, as well as to participate in numerous grant projects.

Associate Professor Samir Orujov, Head of the Scientific Department, informed about the approval of the topics of international and national scientific conferences to be held at SSU in 2022. He noted that international and national scientific conferences held at SSU are organized and held at a high level in terms of content and form, conference materials are usually published in an elegant form before the conference.

The rector instructed to approve the topics of international and national scientific conferences to be held at SSU in 2022 and submit them to the Ministry of Education.

Scientific Secretary prof. Mukhtar Samadov informed on granting the right of publication (vulture) to teaching aids. He noted that in general, the Scientific Council included 6 scientific and educational teaching aids.

Following the discussions, the textbooks were allowed to be published.
