A memorandum on cooperation was signed between Sumgayit State University and Azerbaijan Technical University on December 25.

The meeting was attended by the rector of Sumgayit State University, Professor Elkhan Huseynov, the rector of Azerbaijan Technical University, Professor Vilayat Valiyev, and a delegation consisting of vice-rectors and deans of both universities.

Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov greeted the guests and expressed satisfaction with the expansion of mutual cooperation, spoke about the attention and care shown by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the development of science and education. He noted that today, thanks to the attention and care of President Ilham Aliyev, Sumgayit State University has become an influential scientific and educational center of the country and the region. The rector gave detailed information about the activities of the higher education institution, the education, the teaching process and the achievements. He noted that Sumgayit State University, which aims to meet the needs of qualified personnel for enterprises working with technology in accordance with the requirements of modern world standards, has signed a number of projects and raised its relations to a high level. SSU has signed bilateral and multilateral cooperation agreements with many prestigious universities of our country and the world.

Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University Professor Vilayat Valiyev thanked SSU Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov for the warm welcome and the cooperation agreement to be signed. The rector spoke about the work done in recent years at the university and the training of specialists. He noted that the cooperation agreement to be signed between the universities, along with the expansion of relations, will give a great impetus to the development of science and education.

Then the “State Strategy for the Development of Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan”, “Action Plan for the Implementation of the State Strategy for the Development of Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan”, “Azerbaijan 2020: Vision for the Future” Development Concept, “Higher Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023 The Cooperation Program was signed taking into account the State Program on Enhancing the International Competitiveness of the Education System, the provisions of the Strategic Development Plan of Sumgayit State University (2020-2025), as well as the Charters of AzTU and SSU.

The cooperation agreement was signed by Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov on behalf of Sumgayit State University and Rector Professor Vilayat Valiyev on behalf of Azerbaijan Technical University.

Afterwards, SDU and AMU discussed cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.

It should be noted that the subject of the memorandum is to establish cooperation between the Parties in the field of education and science of mutual interest, to expand, strengthen and develop inter-university relations based on the experience and capabilities of the Parties.
