On March 31, the faculty and students of the department of history of the peoples of Azerbaijan and Eastern Europe of the faculty of history and geography visited the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex on the occasion of March 31 - the day of the genocide of azerbaijanis.

Professor Shirkhan Salimov, head of the department of history of the peoples of Azerbaijan and Eastern Europe informed the students about the genocide committed by Armenians  killed because of his religious affiliation. Hundreds of settlements, cultural monuments, mosques and cemeteries were destroyed as a result of these acts of vandalism by the enemy, which carried out massacres, looting and ethnic cleansing in Karabakh, Zangazur, Nakhchivan, Shirvan, Yerevan and other regions of Azerbaijan. The Genocide Memorial Complex was built in Guba with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in accordance with the relevant decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on October 30, 2009 to inform the world community about the criminal actions of Armenian nationalists, protect the national memory of the Azerbaijani people and perpetuate the memory of genocide victims.
