The opening ceremony of the international forum on "Quality Assurance in Higher Education" was organized by the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education on May 5.

The international forum was organized to discuss issues of internal and external quality assurance in higher education, development of research potential, as well as the connection of higher education institutions with the labor market.

In her opening speech, Ulker Sattarova, chairman of the Board of AQAE  informed the participants about the work done by the agency to ensure quality.

Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev noted that the reforms implemented in the Azerbaijani educational space within the Bologna process have contributed to improving the quality of higher education. The Minister also said  the implementation of European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area and full membership in the European Higher Education Area Quality Assurance Association (ENQA), as well as cooperation and exchange of experience with national agencies in this area. stressed the importance of.

The event was attended by Jolanta Silka, chairman of the Latvian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, Vicki Stott, Director of the Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, Luut Kroes, director of the Accreditation Agency of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and prof. Olgun Cicek spoke about the organization of the internal and external quality assurance system in higher education in accordance with the standards and guidelines for quality assurance in the European higher education space. They spoke about the role of foreign quality assurance in improving the position of higher education institutions in international rankings.

On the first day of the two-day Forum, during panel discussions, the chairman of the Higher Education Quality Assurance Council  of the Republic of Turkey, one of the leading international organizations in the field of quality assurance, director of the Accreditation and Rating of the Republic of Kazakhstan  director of the Independent Agency ,chairman of the Latvian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education  touched upon the role of external quality assurance in improving the position of higher education institutions in international rankings, the role of foreign quality assurance in developing research capacity of higher education institutions. The questions of the participants were answered.

Rector of Sumgayit State University prof. Elkhan Huseynov and Narmin Hasanova head of Quality Assurance Department participated in the forum.
