A series of events dedicated to the 99th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev are  held at Sumgayit State University on May 5, organized by the Student Trade Union Committee and the Student Youth Organization.

In their introductory speeches, the deans of the faculties spoke about the glorious life and rich activity of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and gave full information to the participants.

The speakers noted the unparalleled services of the great personality Heydar Aliyev to the state and nation of Azerbaijan, the name of Heydar Aliyev is one of the few political leaders in history who has become a symbol of independent statehood. With unique leadership  qualities, innate talent and a high sense of patriotism  who created and ensured the political, economic and legal foundations of the independent Azerbaijani state in the recent history of our country. The far-sighted and wise policy of the proud Heydar Aliyev will always lighten our path to a successful future.

We should  note  that the Victory Day, written in golden letters in our modern history, is the result of the policy founded by the great leader Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan and successfully pursued by President Ilham Aliyev. We declare with great pride that President Ilham Aliyev, who fulfilled the dream of the Great Leader who said "There is no Karabakh without Shusha  Azerbaijan without Karabakh" in the Great Patriotic War, addressed the people today. I said in my heart that I was happy to have fulfilled my father's will. We liberated Shusha! This is a great victory! Today, the souls of our martyrs, the Great Leader are happy! ” The triumph of Heydar Aliyev's ideas in the liberation of Karabakh from occupation is beautifully expressed in his thoughts.

Afterwards, the students spoke about the rescue mission of national leader Heydar Aliyev and his unparalleled services on the way to historical victory  and spoke of systemic measures.

The event ended with the screening of a video dedicated to the 99th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
