A series of events are being held at Sumgayit State University on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev. The inter-faculty competitions  are organized  by students of Sumgayit State University and Sumgayit State Technical College in 5kinds of sport (table tennis, checkers, chess, volleyball and basketball) as well as a popular intellectual game “What? Where? When?"jointly organized by the Student Trade Union Committee and the Student Youth Organization “What? Where? When?".

The winners of the event were awarded on May 10 in the small assembly hall of the university.

Opening the award ceremony vice-rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations associate professor Elmar Khalilov said that the events dedicated to the 99th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev were of great importance in terms of studying and passing down the legacy of the great leader. He noted that Heydar Aliyev's activity is a school. Every citizen of Azerbaijan is obliged to study this school. The great, meaningful and glorious way of life of a genius does not conform   the concept of time and space. The vice-rector also noted that if we look at the path taken since 2003, we can see that the political course of the National Leader continues successfully.

Then the awarding of the winners began.

According to the general results of sports competitions, the first place was awarded to the faculty of Chemistry and Biology, the second place to the faculty of Physics and Power Engineering  and the third place to the faculty of Mathematics.

According to the results of the popular intellectual game"What? Where? When?"   the team of the faculty of History and geography was the first, the team of the faculty of Economics and Management was the second and the team of the faculty of Philology was the third.

The winners were awarded honorary diplomas.

At the end speakers expressed deep gratitude to the university administration for the high level of organization of  the events.
