On May 17, Sumgayit State University's faculty of Philology organized a meeting with National  poet Vahid Aziz entitled "Shadow of the love of word".

First, the rector of SSU, professor Elkhan Huseynov received the  National poet Vahid Aziz and guests, greeted them on behalf of students and teachers and expressed his pleasure to see them at the university.

Then, the guests viewed photos and books dedicated to the great leader at the Heydar Aliyev Center of the university, reflecting all periods of the rich life and activity of national leader Heydar Aliyev, including his visits to foreign countries as  a President of independent Azerbaijan, meetings with influential statesmen. National poet Vahid Aziz wrote his heartfelt words in the center's memory book.

The meeting began in the Great Assembly Hall to the music of "Bayatilar" composed to the words of  Vahid Aziz, performed by the winner of the Mugam competition  singer Gulzar Farajova.

The composition "Do not wish me a hundred years" performed by students arouse great interest.

The poet expressed satisfaction with his visit to Sumgayit State University, thanked the university administration for organizing the event and noted that he was impressed  by this meeting. He said that meeting and communicating with students gave me  a stimulus. The poet expressed sureness  that  students of SSU will contribute to the process of conveying the culture and literature of our country to the world through language skills. Then the poet spoke about the history of development of world and Azerbaijani literature, different features of prose and poetry, shared  his point of view with students.

Professor Avtandil Mammadov head of the department of  literature of Azerbaijani and foreign countries, professor Rafig Yusifoglu and senior lecturer Ilaha Valiyeva greeted the guests, spoke about various aspects of the National  poet's work  emphasizing his special place and position in Azerbaijani poetry.

Then a video was shown  about the life and work of  Vahid Aziz.

Mansur Gadirov, professor of the Baku Music Academy, composer and pianist Konul Huseynova spoke about the life and work of the poet, the book "Param-parça illər"(Broken pieces years) presented to the Republican State Prize. Originally from the Daralayaz district of Western Zangazur, Vahid Aziz who spent his childhood and youth in Tartar. Over the years the poet has written hundreds of poems about Karabakh and Zangazur  both nostalgic and optimistic. His poetry in recent years seemed to be strengthened together with our National Army, rooted in Victory.  His  recent plays reflect   the endless joy of the Great Patriotic Victory achieved in a very short time - 44 days with successful strategic and tactical measures, examples of patriotism, courage, heroic determination, bravery and immortality of our martyrs.

Then the poet answered the students' questions, clarified a number of points related to his work and  read his poems.

At the meeting, students sang  his songs based on the poet's poems .

In conclusion, the rector of the university, professor Elkhan Huseynov spoke about the importance of the meeting and said that such meetings serve to develop the literary environment, increase youth interest in poetry, fiction, increase reading culture, comprehensive outlook and further communication between writers and readers.He noted that Vahid Aziz's works has a special place in Azerbaijani poetry  said the students were  interested in the meeting. He noted that Vahid Aziz has a a unique creative style and writing. Readers read his poems with enthusiasm and interest. His poetry is dominated  by  relation  to the motherland, people, land,

love - affection, pure feelings. He is especially active in the field of  songwriting.

At the end, the  gifts  were presented to the poet  on behalf of the university and photos were taken.
