The graduation day was celebrated in the first educational building of Sumgayit State University  on June 29. Deputy minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov, head of Sumgayit city Executive Authority Zakir Farajov, chief of Sumgayit city Police department Colonel Fagan Azadeliyev and university professors and teachers, graduating students and their parents participated in the graduation day.

First, the guests and participants commemorated  the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev . The souls of our martyrs who died for the freedom of our homeland were commemorated with a minute of silence.

Speaking at the event, deputy minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov congratulated the students on the occasion of "Graduation Day", conveyed the congratulations of Education Minister Emin Amrullayev and advised the graduates to become worthy and educated citizens of our country and work for the future of Azerbaijan. He said that in recent years  innovations and positive changes have been taking place in the activity of Sumgayit State University, and the root of these achievements lies in the high state care shown to science and education, as well as the hard work of the faculty. Thanks to the attention and care of the head of the country, science and higher education in our republic purposeful measures implemented in the direction of development, solving existing problems have created a great foundation for establishing and developing the activity of Sumgayit State University at the level of modern requirements.

The rector of the university professor Elkhan Huseynov  made a speech, greeted the guests and participants, congratulated the graduating students on the occasion of "Graduation Day" and wished them success in their future activities. He said that Sumgayit State University  celebrating its 60th anniversary has gained a great reputation both in our country and abroad. I believe that our graduates will play an active role in the life of our country in the future and contribute to its comprehensive development.

In his speech, the rector emphasized that a new generation of patriots, intellectuals and world-viewers, distinguished by their management skills has grown up in our country as a result of the state youth policy established by the great leader Heydar Aliyev. Today"s Azerbaijani youth highly appreciates the services of national leader Heydar Aliyev to our people.

Today, the educational process at Sumgayit State University is carried out in accordance with modern requirements. New laboratories built on the basis of high technologies are operating in our university. Our material and technical base is equipped with the latest technological equipment. In recent years, new specialties have been opened in our university in accordance with the market economy and its requirements. Preparations for the specialties of Informatics teaching, Corrective training, Mechatronics and robotics engineering, Social work, Tourism work organization have been started in the new academic year alone. Our university has been tastefully renovated both externally and internally and has been put to the use of teachers and students. One of the last things done is making the "Student House" available to our students. All these works serve the education of educated personnel, education of young people in patriotism and healthy spirit.

Rector professor Elkhan Huseynov also emphasized that the youth of Azerbaijan showed great heroism even during the 44-day Patriotic War. As a result of the leadership of the Supreme Commander and bravery of the young soldiers of Azerbaijan, our lands were freed from occupation. The 44-day Patriotic War not only gave the people of Azerbaijan the joy of victory, but also introduced us to the heroic sons of our nation once again.

Then honorary degrees, prizes and gifts were presented to the graduates who distinguished themselves in science and education, social and cultural life of the university.

After the presentation, the head of the Sumgayit City Executive Authority, Zakir Farajov, congratulated the graduates, wished them success and stated that thanks to the historical services of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and the attention and care of his political successor, the Honorable President Ilham Aliyev, Sumgayit State University has become a prestigious scientific institution of the country and the region. has become an educational center. It is not for nothing that the opinion "Sumgait State University is already one of the most prestigious higher education institutions of the republic" is the highest award given to Sumgait State University in the Decree signed by our honorable president Mr. Ilham Aliyev in connection with the 70th anniversary of Sumgait city.

In his speech, executive head Zakir Farajov pointed out that conditions will be created for a group of graduates of Sumgait State University to be employed in the city, then he presented a gift to professor Elkhan Huseynov, rector of Sumgait State University  and awarded a group of teachers of the university with an honorary decree for their effective scientific and pedagogical activity.

Then the university anthem was played by the students, balloons and doves symbolizing peace were released into the sky, and the traditional "hat throwing " ceremony was held.

The event continued with a concert program. In addition to the university"s volunteer team, honored artists of the Republic of Azerbaijan Nushaba Alasgarli, Salim Abbasov, Mugham competition laureate Gulzar Farajova, well-known artists and other young artists congratulated the graduates with their performances.
