On March 3, a show-debate dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held at Sumgayit State University under the organization of the Debate club of the Student Youth Organization.

The event was attended by students, debaters, and active members of the Debate Club.

Elmar Khalilov-vice-rector for Social affairs and public relations opened the event with his opening speech, said that a series of events were held at the university within the framework of the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" that the architect and founder of modern Azerbaijan, Great Leader did great and irreplaceable work for the independence and development of our country. He emphasized that he left a rich legacy for today and future life of our country. Under the leadership of president Ilham Aliyev- a worthy follower of the political course of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, our country has achieved great success and will continue to do it.

Then Elmin Novruzlu- chairman of the SYO of SSU made a speech about the importance of the events held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. He said that today there is no field in the life of the country that does not have Heydar Aliyev"s mark and signature. Of course, all the successes and achievements we have gained in the social, economic, scientific, cultural and political fields were based on Heydar Aliyev"s wise policy and visionary activity. Youth policy also occupies a special place in Heydar Aliyev"s activities. Today, the development of the national youth policy in Azerbaijan, ensuring their interests, promoting them in the management system, and protecting their rights are in the focus of our head of state Ilham Aliyev. The youth policy of our country is considered as a model in the world. This model is currently being used by some countries. We also study world experience and try to apply successful points. All this was possible thanks to the continuation of the successful youth policy founded by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev by the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Elmin Novruzlu spoke about the relevance of the topic of the debate and stated that the main purpose of the show-debate is to provide students with detailed information about the debate, to visually show its essence and what kind of success it can bring to the students. They are involved in future projects, trainings and this helps to cultivate   professional debaters.

At the end of the event, the participants shared their thoughts on the topic.
