First meeting of “We speak Russian” club held
On November 26, “We speak Russian” club was launched. At the meeting, Professor Ms.Nigar Iskandarova, the Head of the Foreign Languages Chair, emphasized the importance of consistently holding such meetings among the students which will serve to improve their Russian speaking skills.
The first meeting was moderated by Ms.Amina Musayeva, the senior teacher of the chair. At the meeting attended by the students from all schools, Ms. Musayeva talked of the importance of learning Russian. She quoted the all-known wise words by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev “ I want our youth to read Nizami in Azerbaijani, Shakespeare in English and Pushkin in Russian”.
Ms. Musayeva noted that at present, the interest to the Russian language is driven by economic, political and social factors. The modern specialist shall speak several languages. The motivation of our meeting is to increase the students’ interest in the Russian language, expand their outlook and develop their knowledge on countries.
Then the topic of the meeting was announced: the presentation on “Acquaintance” was delivered. Greeting and in general speech courtesy forms were discussed.
The humor performance staged by the students of the School of Economy and management on this topic caused great interest.
The positive answer of the students to the question “Do you want to speak Russian” implied that the club reached its objective.
In her speech, Ms. Sona Mammadova, Assistant Professor, stressed that it is a pleasure to see the students have such live communication, participate actively in the dialogues and express themselves easily in Russian. She expressed her gratitude to those who contributed to the establishment of the club and wished the club great success.
