A MEETING WAS HELD WITH STUDENTS WHO WILL VOTE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SSU
Our country is on the verge of the next presidential election. In this regard, on January 15 at Sumgait State University, with the organization of the Union of Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations (ASYO) and the support of the Central Election Commission (CEC), students who will vote for the first time in the extraordinary presidential elections scheduled for February 7, 2024 with the right to vote educational meeting was organized.
The main purpose of organizing the meeting was to educate about the election system, the rights and duties of the voter, as well as to increase the level of awareness and voter activity of the students who will participate as voters for the first time in the upcoming elections.
Associate Professor Nemet Ibayev, the chairman of the Trade Union Committee of the university, opened the meeting and greeted the guests and participants. Congratulating young voters who will vote for the first time on their participation in this historic process, he urged them to actively participate in the upcoming presidential elections and vote for a bright future. He spoke about the importance of educational meetings in this direction. He pointed out that currently young people are playing an active role in the social and political life of the country.
Then Flora Valiyeva, secretary of Sumgait III electoral district No. 44, made a speech and informed about the extraordinary presidential elections, which are of great political importance for our country, educated the youth about voting and made a broad speech about the election legislation and legal acts adopted in this field. She said that the electoral system in our country has been further improved and the voting rights of the voters have been fully ensured. In this direction, in meetings held with the participation of CEC representatives, young people are informed about the voting procedure, as well as the necessary legal issues that they should know before and during the election day.
At the end of the meeting, the students" questions were answered.
