On December 15, a meeting was held at our university between students and Mr. Emin Akhundov, educational cooperation manager, Microsoft Azerbaijan representative.
Opening the meeting, Assistant Professor Mr. Gafar Atayev, Vice-rector for part-time, distant and additional education, provided detailed information to the students on the activity of Microsoft in Azerbaijan. It was mentioned that information communication technologies (ICT) have developed rapidly in recent years, becoming part of everyday life and socio-economic relations in all areas. Latest achievements in ICT are applied in management, education, healthcare, business, tourism and banking services and facilitate each member of the society to benefit from available opportunities. Microsoft implements a number of successful projects in our country, I believe by participating in the contest the students will show their skills and knowledge. 
At the meeting, Mr. Emin Akhundov, educational cooperation manager, Microsoft Azerbaijan representative gave detailed information on “Microsoft Imagine Cup” innovation contest to be held in Azerbaijan. The contest first held in 2014 is organized on three categories - “Games”, “Innovations” and “World citizenship”. In the world final, “NoObs”, a team that represented Azerbaijan, won the second place among 33 teams with its Spinal project. He mentioned that a team which decides to participate in the contest will need to pass registration by January 5, 2016. Winners of the national qualifiers in all categories will represent their country in the international semi-finals to be held April 2016, while semi-finals winners will participate at the final to be organized in Seattle, U.S., in June 2016. By attending this contest, the students will bring new ideas first to our country and then to the world.  
The meeting was very active and at the end of the meeting and Assistant Professor Mr. Gafar Atayev, Vice-rector for part-time, distant and additional education expressed his deep gratitude to Mr. Akhundov on behalf of the students.
