On March 11, Sumgait State University hosted a master class of prominent historian, doctor of historical sciences, professor, director of the Caucasus Studies Institute of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, corresponding member of ANAS, deputy chairman of the Science and Education Committee of the Milli Majlis, Musa Gasimli.

The master class on ‘Full establishment of the state sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan: New goals and our youth’ attended by the faculty and students of the university was opened by the rector of SSU, associate professor Rufat Azizov. Welcoming the participants and professor Musa Gasimli, the rector assured the audience that the master class, which will be held on an interesting topic due to its historical and socio-political content, will be welcomed by the participants. In terms of form and content, Rufat Azizov pointed out that today's event will be a project that will be systematically continued in the future life of the university and called the audience to be active.

Emphasizing that the education system of our country and the issues of its integration into international education will be discussed in the master classes, which will be held by eminent scientists and thinkers of our country on priority topics, the rector once again reminded the fundamental role of the participants' activity.

Professor Musa Gasimli, who started the lesson with the sentence ‘The result in any audience depends not on the listener, but on the competence of the lecturer’, said that he wanted to build his conversation on the topic in three stages. Noting that these stages appear to be antagonistic contradictions at first glance, the historian talked about the organic connection between them and summarized the results of the 44-day Patriotic War in this way: ‘The Victory in our country, which is the result of that war, was based not only on the Armenian ideology of Heydar Aliyev's statehood strategy, which was established in 1993, but it was his victory over the forces that focused all his activities on the foothold of this ideology’.

Emphasizing that President Ilham Aliyev was the leading force in this victory, the historian professor emphasized that as a result of the Victory, state sovereignty was fully established in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan after 1988. Therefore, Musa Gasimli, who noted that the ballot cast by Ilham Aliyev, who voted in Khankendi in the presidential elections on February 7, was ‘the last nail in the coffin of Armenian separatism in our country’, spoke about the goals in the new conditions.

Saying that the main factor determining the tandem of new goals and our youth is the red line for the interests of the state and the nation, the correspondent member of ANAS showed the contours of that ‘Red Line’: This is the unity of the Nation and the State.
