A seminar was held at SSU on the occasion Day of Energy Workers
On October 20, a seminar on "Innovative methods of applying green energy technologies in sustainable development" was held at Sumgayit State University on the occasion Day of Energy Workers. The seminar was opened by Advisor to the Rector of the University, Professor of the Department of Energy, Tamella Ahmadova, and she congratulated those working in this field on the occasion of the Day of Energy Workers on behalf of the Acting Rector, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Aminaga Sadigov. He emphasized that on October 20, 1981, under the initiative and direct leadership of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, the first power unit of the "Azerbaijan" thermal power plant (TPP) was put into operation, and this historical event is of great importance as the beginning of a new stage in the electric power industry of Azerbaijan. By the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated October 13, 2004, that day was officially celebrated as Day of Energy Workers in our country. Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Associate Professor Ulduz Aghayev said in his speech that, as in all areas of our country, the policy set by the National Leader in the energy sector is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. He emphasized that, in addition to the oil sector, special attention is paid to the development of the non-oil sector in our country. At the seminar, Gulbahar Gasimova, Head of the "Green Energy" Department of the Training and Innovation Center of "Azerishig" OJSC, provided information on the measures and achievements taken in our republic towards the development of the energy sector, especially the electricity system. She also spoke about the projects implemented in the organization he represents and the goals ahead. She spoke about a centralized SCADA system that allows for remote control while being fully integrated into the energy system, and other pilot projects. She noted that the successful result of the reforms carried out is that today Azerbaijan not only meets its domestic demand for electricity, but has even become a reliable exporter of electricity in the region. The priority given to green technologies and innovative approaches in Azerbaijan"s energy policy further strengthens our country"s strategic position on the global energy map. She also noted that President Ilham Aliyev declared Karabakh and East Zengezur a "green energy" zone. In these regions, innovative approaches such as "smart cities" and "smart villages" are being applied, and the ecosystem is being restored. As a result, these strategic steps strengthen Azerbaijan"s position in the field of green energy and environmental sustainability, both nationally and internationally. The liberated lands have great potential for solar, wind and hydropower. The goal is to increase the number of green energy zones and achieve sustainable development. The event included a wide-ranging discussion on environmental protection, energy security, and the socio-economic impacts of renewable energy technologies.
