On October 21, an educational event was held on the topic of "Environmental problems in Sumgayit and the work done by the MENR to solve the problem" organized by the Faculty of Engineering. Representatives of the 4th Regional Ecology and Natural Resources Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, as well as the faculty of the university and students, attended the event. Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations of the university, Associate Professor Elmar Khalilov opened the event and welcomed the participants, spoke about the importance of the event. In his speech, he touched on the environmental problems occurring in the world, the pollution of the earth, its negative effects on the human gene pool and living things, as well as the damage caused to the ocean ecosystem. The vice-rector noted that in order to prevent these problems and find solutions, each of us must be educated and develop ecological thinking. Then, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Associate Professor Ulduz Aghayev made a speech and greeted the guests and students. He urged students to actively participate in such events and make the most of the opportunities that arise. At the event Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Ecology, Associate Professor Tunzala Babayeva, Director of the Career and Alumni Center Anar Dunyamaliyev, and consultants of the Environmental Protection and Environmental Monitoring Sector of the 4th Regional Ecology and Natural Resources Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Nuriyya Fatullayeva, Sevil Umudova, and leading consultant Rovshan Mehdiyev touched upon ways to solve environmental problems, spoke about the measures taken to protect the environment, monitoring activities, and the role and opportunities of students in this area. They stated that such educational events serve to form ecological thinking and a responsible attitude towards the environment among students. At the same time, it contributes to raising awareness about environmental protection, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
