On October 20-24, 2025, Sumgayit State University (SSU) Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, Associate Professor Elshad Abdullayev, and Associate Professor of the Chemistry Department Elmar Imanov paid an official visit to Istanbul Technical University (ITU), one of the prestigious higher education institutions in Turkiye. The purpose of the visit was to implement the implementation stages of the agreement reached between SSU and BP on the creation of a new content "Chemical Engineering" master's program. This program aims to train highly qualified engineering personnel in accordance with modern industrial requirements and further strengthen university-industry cooperation. During the visit, Associate Professor Elshad Abdullayev met with Istanbul Technical University Assistant to the Rector Prof. Dr. İpek Akın Karadayi, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Metallurgy Prof. Dr. Sebahattin Gurmen, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Samet Yucel Kadioglu, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering Prof. Dr. Alper Sarioglan, and Head of the Department of Chemistry Prof. Dr. Okan Sirkejioglu. During the meetings, opportunities for cooperation between the two universities, improving the curriculum of the Chemical Engineering specialty, student and faculty mobility, as well as organizing joint research projects were discussed. The parties also considered cooperation opportunities in the mutual use of laboratory infrastructure and the implementation of joint projects. During the visit, Elshad Abdullayev and Elmar Imanov got acquainted with the chemistry and chemical engineering laboratories of ITU, received information about the scientific research conducted and the educational resources used, and participated in some classes. Sumgayit State University continues its activities to expand international cooperation, strengthen scientific and research potential, implement modern educational programs, and deepen integration with industry.
