On November 8, a commemorative event was held in Sumgayit Martyrs' Alley on the occasion of November 8 - Victory Day. The event was attended by the Head of Sumgayit City Executive Power Zakir Farajov, the acting rector of Sumgayit State University, acting, Professor Aminaga Sadigov, members of the Milli Majlis, heads of law enforcement agencies, members of the families of martyrs, veterans, representatives of the city community, as well as the faculty and students of SSU. First, the National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played, and the memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the freedom and sovereignty of our Motherland was commemorated with a minute of silence. Speaking at the event, the Head of Sumgayit City Executive Power Zakir Farajov said that Victory Day is one of the most glorious pages in the history of the Azerbaijani people. He emphasized that this magnificent Victory was possible as a result of the resolute leadership of the President, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the courage of the Azerbaijani Army and the unshakable unity of our people. It was noted in the speeches that November 8 - Victory Day is a celebration of the national will, heroic spirit and power of our people and our state. The participants of the event paid tribute to the dear memory of the martyrs by laying flowers in front of the "Victory Soldier" monument erected in the Alley of Martyrs and on their graves. Later, they participated in a tree-planting campaign held in the city and laid a "green victory zone" in memory of the martyrs.
