On December 8, an educational meeting was held at Sumgayit State University (SSU) within the framework of the project of “Energy Talks” of Energy Regulatory Agency (ERA). Vice-rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations, associate professor Elmar Khalilov opened the event and spoke about the significance of the meeting. He noted that such events are regularly held at the university to broaden students’ outlook. The vice-rector emphasized that the energy sector is rich in modern challenges, said that such events are important for the development of students" knowledge and skills. Then, Head of the Press Sector of the ERA, Zeynab Kazimova spoke about the purpose of the project. She noted that SSU graduates also work at the agency and stressed the importance of continued cooperation between the two institutions. Later, leading specialist of the State Programs and Strategic Development Department of the ERA, Vusala Latifova made a presentation on the topic of “Overview of the Electric Power Sector”, Head of the Energy Liberalization Department, Elmar Gulaliyev made a presentation on the topic of “International Experience in Liberalizing the Electric Power Sector”, Head of the Project Work Sector, Shahin Maharramli made a presentation on the topic of “Activities of the Energy Efficiency Fund”. The speeches provided detailed information on the targets implemented in the energy sector, the existing regulatory and legal framework, the liberalization of the electricity market, the main subjects of the energy market, the work done to strengthen the networks, and other important issues. During the interactive meeting, the questions of the students of the Faculty of Engineering were answered in detail by the employees of the ERA.
