On March 16, a festive event and concert dedicated to the Novruz holiday were held in front of the main academic building of Sumgayit State University (SSU). The event was opened by the Acting Rector of SSU, Corresponding Member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov congratulating the faculty and students on the upcoming Novruz holiday. He said that the month of March is rich in holidays of special importance for our people and these days serve to strengthen values such as solidarity, kindness and unity in our society. In his speech, Aminaga Sadigov noted that 2025 was one of the most memorable years in the history of Sumgayit State University. The expansion of the university's international relations, the improvement of its position in the world university rankings, the record increase in the number of students during admission, and the formation of a healthy academic environment at the university are among the important achievements. Aminaga Sadigov emphasized that the basis of these successes is the result of the selfless work of teachers, and the quality of education is determined primarily by the activities of teachers. At the same time, A. Sadigov emphasized that the main figure at the center of an educational institution is the student, noting that the university's reputation and image in society are directly related to the results achieved by students. He called on students to receive a good education and demonstrate exemplary behavior both within the university and in front of society. In his speech, Aminaga Sadigov noted that the Novruz holiday holds a special place in the protection of our national and spiritual values, and said that this holiday, as one of the ancient traditions of our people, calls people to kindness, sharing and friendly relations. He emphasized that the National Leader Heydar Aliyev has always paid special attention to the Novruz holiday and created ample opportunities for the celebration of national customs and traditions at the state level. The rector noted that this policy is successfully continued today by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, especially emphasized the important work done by First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, to promote our national and cultural heritage in the world. A.Sadigov also drew attention to the changes taking place in the field of artificial intelligence, digital information and new technologies in the modern era, stressing the importance of young people adopting these innovations and actively participating in their creation. He wished the university staff and students happiness, health and success on the occasion of the holiday. The event continued with an artistic program. As part of the program, the SSU "Sema" dance group of SSU performed the composition "Veten", a skit was shown with the participation of Dede Gorgud and Bahar gizi, and a festive bonfire was lit. Then, Kosa and Kechal performed, the students performed the "Reyhani" saz melody, and other interesting scenes. A concert program was also organized as part of the festive event. Singers Mirza Bagirov, Hijran Ahmadova, and Roza Karimli entertained the participants with their performances as guests.
