On March 17, the interfaculty volleyball competition organized within the framework of the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture” at Sumgayit State University successfully ended. The competition was held on the joint initiative of the university’s Trade Union Committee and Sports Club. Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations, Associate Professor Elmar Khalilov, opened the event, greeted the participants on behalf of the Acting Rector of the university, Corresponding Member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov, and congratulated them on the upcoming Novruz and Ramadan holidays. He noted that such sports competitions, in addition to serving to form a healthy lifestyle among students, promote the principle of “a healthy mind in a healthy body,” and at the same time contribute to the creation of a healthy competitive environment and the development of youth in team spirit. The tournament which started on March 7, was successfully remembered for its intense and interesting matches. According to the final results of the competition, the Faculty of Engineering, which showed the highest results, rose to first place. The Faculty of History and Geography placed second with a successful performance, while the Faculty of Mathematics came in third. In the end, the winning teams were awarded certificates.
