A grand event was held for foreign students studying at Sumgayit State University (SSU) on the occasion of the national holiday of the Azerbaijani people - Novruz, jointly organized by the Faculty of Philology and the Department of International Cooperation and Strategic Relations. Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations of the university, Associate Professor Elmar Khalilov spoke at the event, conveyed the holiday greetings of the Acting Rector of SSU, Corresponding Member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov to the participants. Speaking about the rich historical roots of the Novruz holiday and the customs and traditions preserved for centuries, he said that Novruz is a symbol of unity, solidarity and friendship. In her speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Associate Professor Gunel Pashayeva emphasized the positive impressions of foreign students about university life and spoke about the importance of the Novruz holiday in bringing together different peoples and bringing cultures closer. In her speech, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Strategic Projects,Aysel Eminova emphasized that international relations of the university are expanding year by year, noting that the education of students from different countries at SSU makes a significant contribution to the development of intercultural dialogue. She noted that such events play a special role in further strengthening friendly relations. Then, students from Türkiye, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Malaysia and other countries were presented with detailed information in English about the ancient history, rich traditions and attributes of the Novruz holiday. As part of the holiday festivities, Novruz khonchas and samples of sweets reflecting our national values were demonstrated. The event continued with the "Yalli" dance by foreign students.
