A delegation from Sumgayit State University visited the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay as part of their visit to Kazakhstan

A delegation from Sumgayit State University visited the Abay Kazakh National Pedagogical University as part of the II Rectors' Forum of Higher Education Institutions of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan and the "Study in Azerbaijan" international education exhibition held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. At the meeting, which was attended by the university's leaders, a broad exchange of views was held between the parties on priority areas of cooperation and a Memorandum of Understanding on mutual cooperation was signed. The Memorandum was signed by the acting rector of Sumgayit State University, corresponding member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov and the rector of Abay Kazakh National Pedagogical University Bolat Tilep.

The Memorandum envisages the expansion of scientific and research activities between the parties, promotion of the exchange of academic knowledge and experience, development of joint educational programs and strengthening cooperation in innovative areas. It should be noted that the presence of specialties in pedagogical areas at both universities further increases the practical importance of this cooperation and creates broad opportunities for joint personnel training in the future.

This cooperation is of great importance in terms of strengthening the position of Sumgayit State University in the international academic network, deepening the exchange of experience in the field of pedagogical education and accelerating integration into the global educational space. It should be noted that the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay, founded in 1928, is the oldest higher education institution in Kazakhstan and is known as one of the leading centers of teacher training in the country. This prestigious university, where more than 15 thousand students study, is also distinguished by its position in international rankings. Thus, the university is ranked 628th in the QS World University Rankings 2026 and 131st in the QS Asian University Rankings 2025.
