Interfaculty sports competitions continue at Sumgayit State University within the framework of the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture”. 6 teams consisting of students of Sumgayit State University and Sumgayit State Technical College competed in the chess competition jointly organized by the Student Trade Union Committee and the Sports Club. First, the dear memory of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of our republic was commemorated with a minute of silence. Then, the vice-rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations of the university, associate professor Elmar Khalilov made a speech and spoke about the importance of sports competitions. He emphasized that such competitions play an important role in the physical and intellectual development of students, as well as in the formation of a healthy competitive environment, and wished the participants success. Then the competition started. According to the results of the competition, which took place in a tense and interesting competition, the first place was awarded to the Faculty of Mathematics, the second place to the Faculty of History and Geography, and the third place to the team of the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
