The Faculty of Mathematics of Sumgayit State University and the Faculty Student Trade Union Committee (STUC), the Student Youth Organization and the Student Scientific Society jointly organized a scientific and practical event on the topic of “The Role of Mathematics and Information Technologies in Urban Planning and Architecture” dedicated to the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture”. The event was moderated by the Chairman of the Faculty STUC, Pari Talibli.
At the event, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Associate Professor Khalida Hasanova delivered an opening speech and stated that in modern times, the dynamics of urban development, sustainable urbanization processes, efficient planning and the application of innovative architectural solutions are closely related to mathematical modeling, digital technologies and information systems. She spoke about the work carried out in this direction, scientific innovations and future development prospects, and drew attention to the fact that the topic of today"s event is of great relevance both from a scientific and practical point of view. Then, a video clip reflecting the development stages of Baku in 1930, 2026 and 2100 was shown at the presentation of Zarifa Samadzade, the chairwoman of the Faculty of Economics and Management. The presentation visually brought to the attention of the participants the historical development path of the capital and the prospects for urban development expected in the future. Senior lecturer of the Department of Mathematics and Informatics Teaching Technology, Sabina Gurbanova, and associate professor of the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Differential Equations, Ilgar Safarli made presentations on the topics of “Application of Information Technologies in Urban Planning” and “Mathematical Models in the Optimization of Urban Transport Systems”. In their speeches, they emphasized the important role of smart city models and modern software in urban management, their real application possibilities in urban planning, the efficient organization of urban transport, optimal regulation of traffic flow, as well as the importance of mathematical models in improving logistics processes. Chairwoman of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chinara Osmanova delivered a speech on the topic “An Architect from the Future”. At the end of the event, an interesting exchange of views took place on the topic, and proposals were put forward regarding the application of mathematics, innovative approaches and information technologies in the field of urban planning and architecture.
