The achievements of the students and personnel in this field are contributing the sports of the country
Being distinguished with material- technical base and personnel potentiality, the sports of the university is also under the special attention. On this respect, the university has established the sports club in 2015. Meanwhile, the university was reconstructed the sports hall and constructed the football and volleyball playgrounds, chess ground board and table games pavilions in order the students to spend their leisure time effectively. All these attempts made under the leadership of the rector of the university, professor Mr. E. Huseynov. Indeed, all this activity made for the stimulation of the future generations.
Currently, the students and personnel of university are engaging in sports activities such as football, table tennis, badminton, shooting, volleyball, chess, checkers and etc. So, it stimulates the staff of the university to take an active part in the international contests, arranged in our country. For example, our sports staff has gained the gold medals in the table tennis contest, organized in 2015-1016 in Sumgait among the institutions. Besides, the team of the university was the winner in all-around contest, arranged under the name “I am ready to protect my homeland” in Sumgait. The student of “Physics and Electro energetic department” was the winner of the Azerbaijan Judo Contest, arranged among the high schools. The other student, VusalHasanov won the gold medal in the judo contest, arranged among the youth of Azerbaijan. The team of the university in track and field athletics won the silver medals, stood behind the team of the Sports Academy of Azerbaijan Republic on awarding stage. Our team won the bronze medals in the contest of 5 sport kinds such as table tennis, chess, checkers, volleyball and backgammon which was arranged among the high schools in Baku last year.
The staff of the sports club is under the permanent attention of administration of university. Two of them have been awarded with Diplomas of Honor: the first one by Ministry of Youth and Sports and the other one by SSU.
Recently, the university has arranged the contest among the faculties which covered three kinds of sports such as chess, checkers and backgammon. The contest got started on February 9 and ended on February 13. It was dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the university’s foundation. The vise rector on humanitarian issues Mr. R. Huseynov made a speech during the awarding ceremony and he widely spoke about the dynamic development process of the sports in the country. He notified that the president of Azerbaijan Republic is rendering a special care and support to this field, so that it brings about the successful results of our athletes in the international contests. Besides, he noted that the contest is arranged in order to improve the health of the personnel, to attract the students into the sports trainings for their effective leisure time and to determine the best sports teams of the univesrity.
The winners of the contest are mentioned below:
• Chess: Gold – Faculty of Economic and Management; Silver – Faculty of Mathematics; Bronze – Faculty of Physics and Electroenergetic.
• Checkers: Gold – Faculty of History and Geography; Silver – Faculty of Chemistry and Biology; Bronze – Faculty of Physics and electro energetic.
• Backgammon: Gold – Economy and Management; Silver- Chemistry and Biology; Bronze – Faculty of Philology
The head of sports club Mr. ZakirMammadov congratulated the winners and notified that our university has gained a great number of achievements in the recent times. He pointed out that the staff of the club will do its best in order to meet all modern standards in order to develop the sports field of the university.
In the end of the contest the winners have been awarded with diplomas and cups, thereby have been taken the memory pictures.
