On April 6, SSU hosted an awarding ceremony of the winners of the Olympiad on Chemistry and Biology dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the University. 
A family and an education plays a big role in the formation of the each nation, namely in the formation of the youth generation. So, the people formed in such society and conditions are always under the consistent attention with their high culture and intellect. Being an educational part of the formation of the youth, the Olympiads is serving for the identification of the pupils, to increase their interest to education, to promote them in order they to show their abilities and to evaluate their knowledge. In these regards, SSU is organizing several Olympiads on different subjects for the students regularly. One of those Olympiads had been held on December 24 which was dedicated to the Chemistry and Biology. The participants of the Olympiad were the pupils of 9th, 10th and 11th classes including some pupils of 8th class. Meanwhile, the pupils from Baku city, namely the pupils of “Kaspi” lyceum have attended in that Olympiad. The evaluation of the Olympiad results had been conducted on the basis of 10 point system. There were 5 questions in each variant and the maximum score was consisting of 50 points. The results brought about 37 winners of 147 pupils. All winners have been awarded with diplomas of Honor presented by the rector of the university, prof. Mr. E.Huseynov. The rector congratulated the winners and wished them a success in the future. Hereinafter, the rector widely spoke about the university and notified that our university has realized several successful projects in recent three years and currently, the university attends in four TEMPUS projects of European Union. Our three specialties, namely the bachelor degree: Engineering of process automation, Electro energetic engineering and master degree:  Energy management in Chemistry have been awarded with the certificates by the European Accreditation Agency (ASIIN). These achievements play a significant role as a guarantee for the employment of our students in the European countries. Besides, our university is a member to Association of Universities of Caspian States and since 2015 the university became a cochairman to Association of Azerbaijani - Russian Universities (Azerbaijani part). The rector noted as well that the university made a lot of works towards improving of education process such as the lecture halls supplied with the projectors, smart boards, and modern computer technologies. The university has also got an electronic library. All of these things we achieved thanks to the right policy of our president Mr. Ilham Aliyev in the field of science, development of high education and settlement of the outstanding problems. In the end of the speech, the rector stressed that our university is successfully cooperates with comprehensive schools. Thus, every Saturday, the university is arranging a day of “Open Door” for the pupils so that they can enjoy an acquaintance tour through our university. Also, the scientists of our university play a big role in preparation of the pupils for the contest “The scholars of Tomorrow” realized by the Ministry of Education.
Making a speech, the Head of Sumgait Branch Office of Ministry of Education, an assoc. professor Mr. Nizami Namazov expressed his high satisfaction for the high arranged relations between SSU and Sumgait Comprehensive Schools. He noted that SSU is an only high school in Sumgait and gained a big reputation in Europe. The speaker notified that it is necessary to conduct such kind of the meetings in regular. 
The dean of the faculty of Chemistry and Biology, an assoc. professor Mahal Muradov, makes a speech about dynamic development of our university he notified that the faculty cooperates with the several institutes of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. As a result of long-term cooperation deals between Ministry of Education, SSU and Institute off Polymer Materials (IPM) we opened jointly with IPM the Scientific and Training Center. Besides, the establishment of a base faculty of our university in IPM encourages the mutual relations and contributes the national education. It creates a big opportunities for the students, namely the suitable conditions for them in order to run the scientific researches.
The other speakers congratulated the winners as well and wished them the new achievements in the future.
