Great leader Heydar Aliyev is commemorated in all regions of Azerbaijan in these days. On December 12, scientific-practical conference was held dedicated to the memory of Heydar Aliyev in Sumgayit State University. The collective of the university visited his monument in Heydar Aliyev Park and commemorated him by laying flowers. Afterwards, the event went on in Assembly Hall of the university.

Commencing the conference with opening speech, rector of the university Professor Elkhan Huseynov spoke about historical services and political activity of Heydar Aliyev. He noted that, Heydar Aliyev is a founder of modern independent Azerbaijan and one of the outstanding politicians of our nation. Our people will never forget his historical services and will honor his memory. The rector notified that, the development of science and education is related with Heydar Aliyev’s name. 1993 was a turning point in Azerbaijan and independent statehood history. His return to the power returned the respect to intelligent people, scholars and science. Sustainable development policy run by Great leader is successfully carried on by the President Ilham Aliyev. Several large-scale projects are conducted under the leadership of Mehriban Aliyeva, the first vice-president of Azerbaijan Republic. Independent Azerbaijan is confidently moving forward to the great future.

Afterwards, following persons made speeches accordingly: Adil Bakhshaliyev, dean of the Faculty of History and geography “Union of Heydar and nation is immortal”; Elmar Khalilov, associate professor of the Department of Azerbaijani and Eastern European nations’ history “The continuation of Heydar Aliyev course leads us to the happy future”; Ali Miriyev, III course student of the Faculty of History and geography “Heydar Aliyev is a founder of ideology of Azerbaijanism”; Toghrul Alizade, V course student of the Faculty of History and geography “Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijan education”. They spoke about his attention and care to the improvement of education and to young generation. They emphasized that, presently, Azerbaijan Republic is on the safe hands and has a stable and dynamic growth temp.

The poems devoted to Great leader Heydar Aliyev were recited in the conference by the students.
