We have several historical figures, prominent politicians and state persons who had significant roles in our history. They are always remembered with their works and services. Among these figures Heydar Aliyev gained the name of Great Leader of Azerbaijan people, who played an important role in the destiny of the country.
On December 12, the event was held “Heydar Aliyev is always in our hearts” organized by the Faculties of Engineering and History and geography dedicated to commemoration of Heydar Aliyev. 
Vice-rector on Teaching organization and training technologies, associate professor Natig Talibov commenced the event. The memory of Great leader Heydar Aliyev was commemorated with 1 minute silence. The vice-rector noted the significance of the events held for propagating the heritage of Heydar Aliyev. Widely speaking about his ideas and services for strengthening our statehood, Natig Talibov notified that, Heydar Aliyev was a politician born for great politics, who could express himself in solution of not only domestic, but also world-wide issues. 
The dean of the Faculty of History and geography Professor Adil Bakhshaliyev and dean of the Faculty of Engineering docent Ulduz Aghayev made speeches. They emphasized that, Heydar Aliyev was an outstanding politician not only in Azerbaijan, but also in the world. Successful domestic and foreign policy run during his authority in Azerbaijan founded universal values like independence, democracy, justice, national development and secularization. The speakers pointed out that, all the achievements of our country gained under the leadership of Great leader are successfully carried on and expanded by President Ilham Aliyev. 
Afterwards, the following students made speeches accordingly: the students of the Faculty of History and geography Ali Miriyev “Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijani youth”, Toghrul Alizade “Heydar Aliyev is a founder of Azerbaijan”; the students of the Faculty of Engineering Shafiga Kazimova “A founder of Azerbaijan renaissance”, Ikhtiyar Islamov “Restoration of Azerbaijan sovereignty is associated with Heydar Aliyev”. They spoke about his role on gaining and strengthening the sovereignty of Azerbaijan, his services carried out for propagating and preserving our national and spiritual values and the results of the youth policy. 
The student of the Engineering Miralim Baghirov recited the poem “Heydar Baba” and the student of the Faculty of History and geography Ibrahim Ganiyev recited “Khilaskar”. The documentary was demonstrated about the life and activity of immortal leader.
