On December 19, an event called “We Speak English” was held with the organization of Linguistic Center.
Professor Ramazan Mammadov, vice-rector on Science and innovations commenced the event and notified that, learning English is one of the main demands of modern life. The base of learning language depends on the desire of the human. Almost everyone wants to learn English, but the fundamental reason is motivation of the person, who wants to learn the language. Only then a man can realize his desire. The substantial mission of education system of Azerbaijan is the preparation of scientific cadre potential and Sumgayit State University carries out this process successfully. The vice-rector emphasized that, our university explores significant steps in direction of establishing international relations of our university. SSU is a member of Association of Universities of Caspian States and Association of Azerbaijani-Russian Universities and has bilateral contracts with Cologne Technical University (Germany), Graz Technical University (Austria), Warsaw Technology University (Poland), Ufa State Oil Technical University (Russia) and Samara State Technical University (Russia) etc. These contacts contribute to expansion of our relations and the development of our education. The students who learn languages in Linguistic Centre participated at several international conferences and were awarded with diplomas: the conference held in Voronezh State University of forestry and technology of Russian Federation and the conference “A 3rd International School and Conference on Optoelectronics, Photonics, Engineering and Nanostructures – Saint Petersburg OPEN 2016” which was held in Russia.
Alik Abdullayev, the head of the Linguistic Centre widely spoke about the works done in the Centre in a short period of time and the importance of the language courses organized for our students and employees. He congratulated teaching and student staff of the university on behalf of collective of Centre on occasion of 55th Anniversary of Sumgayit State University. Alik Abdullayev expressed his gratitude to Professor Elkhan Huseynov, the rector of the University for created circumstances. The event went on with artistic performances. The students performed Michael Jackson’s song “We are the world”. Dostaliyeva Zahra (gr.803) made a presentation on Sumgayit State University. Following students delivered presentations accordingly: Karimova Shabnam (gr. 803) – “The events that changed the history”; Jabrayilova Fatma and Hajibalayeva Surayya (gr. 893) – Geological history and structure of the Earth”; Gulverdiyeva Ruqayya (gr. 306) – “Main functions of the minerals in human body”; Shadlinskaya Leyla and Israfilova Raksana (gr.493) – “Famous mathematicians”. Congratulation videos of the teachers were demonstrated who joined to the language courses of Linguistic Centre. The announcers Safaralizade Amina (gr.799) and Babayev Ilham (gr.306), Maharramova Raksana (gr.803), Abdullayeva Elvira (gr.482) and other students sang English songs, held quiz about national films in English.
Faculty deans and teachers appreciated the students’ performances in English and wished them success.
