Two years passed from April fights. On this occasion, on April 4, with joint organization of Ministry of Education and Ministry of Defense a tree planting campaign under the slogan “Planting trees for each day passed from April victory” was held in Pirakushkul settlement dedicated to victory in April battles.
First, event attendees put flowers on Heydar Aliyev’s bust. Then, a meeting was held with soldiers in a military unit club. The martyrs were commemorated with a minute’s silence.
Employees of Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Education, family members of martyrs and participants of April fights, pupils, students-volunteers, as well as SSU students participated in tree planting campaign.
Employee of Ministry of Defense Abdulla Gurbani opening the meeting noted that the main purpose in commemorating the 2nd anniversary of April fights is to increase patriotism in teenagers and youth. Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov noted that with the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev control of strategic positions were regained as a result of military operations in April, 2016. He said that the 2nd anniversary commemoration of April fights shows the people’s fighting spirit and high sense of patriotism. Deputy Minister also expressed his hope for return of invaded lands. Then, chief of Moral-psychological preparation and public relations department of Ministry of Defense mayor general Rasim Aliyev notified that in April, 2016 Azerbaijani army destroyed a large number of manpower and military equipment. Also, speakers talked about restoration of Jojuk Marjanli village. 
Urfan Valizade’s (who was awarded the order of “Azerbaijan bayraghi” (Banner of Azerbijan) wife Konul Valizade, National Hero Murad Mirzayev’s wife Fizza Mirzayeva, National Hero Samid Imanov’s wife Badam Imanova expressed their gratitude for attention and mentioned that their martyr husbands’ lives are model for young generation. Azer Mammadov who was awarded the medal “Shujaata gora” (For bravery) and participated in April battles also took part in the event.
Participants got acquainted with the circumstance created in the military unit. In the end, in the territory of the unit 730 trees were planted.
