On April 27, blood donation campaign “Donate blood, save lives!” was held at Sumgayit State University with the initiative by Sumgayit city branch of Red Crescent Society for children and teenagers suffering from thalassemia and hemophilia. The purpose of holding the campaign is to improve the quality of medical care provided to patients with hemophilia, to reduce disablement and death rate, to improve diagnostics, treatment and prophylaxis of complications of hemophilia and to organize the therapy. Several events are held in this direction at Sumgayit State University. Such kind of campaigns held under the motto “Donate blood, save lives!” is of great importance for children and teenagers suffering from heritable blood disease.
The health of every donor was checked by hematologists of special medical brigade of Central Blood Bank. Professor-teaching staff, students and employees of the University voluntarily joined to this humanist campaign. 
It should be noted that plasma part of the blood will be transferred to patients afflicted with hemophilia, erythrocyte mass to patients with thalassemia.
