President of Azerbaijan Iham Aliyev had signed order about granting president’s individual pension to Hasan Shirali oghlu Sadigov for long-term activities in the field of education. For this purpose, on May 29 an event dedicated to a scientist, honored teacher, Professor Hasan Sadigov’s 90th anniversary and 60th anniversary of his scientific-pedagogical work.
Head of Sumgayit city Executive power Zakir Farajov and several intellectuals attended the event.
Professor Elkhan Huseynov opening the event noted that people know Hasan Sadigov not only as a teacher, philosopher and scientist, but also as live history of Sumgayit and Sumgayit State University and classicized modern. “Hasan Sadigov tying his life’s 56 years with the university is proud of his teaching career and working with his pupils. The high school was founded in 1962. Hasan Sadigov has been working here since then. When he was given an individual pension by Pesident of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev professor-teaching staff met it with joy. The high award is not only appreciation of Hasan Sadigov’s work, but also that of SSU collective. Hasan Sadigov who is a true scientist is an example for the next generation.”
Head of Sumgayit city Executive power Zakir Farajov in his speech emphasized that Ilham Aliyev is a successor of Heydar Aliyev and his ideas. He noted that Ilham Aliyev pays attention to development of science. “A scientist’s greatness is defined due to his intellect, contribution to science, written scientific works. Probably, gaining those titles was not easy. Hasan Sadigov propagated Sumgayit’s establishment history, its socio-economic, cultural and demographic development as a first researcher. He was a coauthor of the book called “Sumgayit hagigatlari” (“Sumgayit truths”) together with Ramazan Mammadov. The book played important role against armenian slander and in spread of all realities of Sumgayit incidents which occured in February of 1988. In a word, Hasan Sadigov’s works are always appreciated by people and government.
Afterwards the Mayor Zakir Farajov read the Order of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on granting personal pension of the President to Hasan Shirali oglu Sadigov for long-term productive activity in the field of education and wished him long life, good health and success. 
The following persons delivered speech in the event: dean of the Faculty of History and Geography Professor Adil Bakhshaliyev, vice-rector on Science and innovations Professor Ramazan Mammadov, head of the Department of Petrochemistry and chemical engineering Professor Akbar Aghayev, head of the department of Foreign languages Professor Nigar Isgandarova, Professor Nadir Kazimov, Professor Mahammadali Zarbaliyev, chairman of Student Trade Union Committee Nemat Ibayev and Professor Atamoghlan Hasanov, who studied with Hasan Sadigov. They spoke about the life and scientific activity of the scientist and emphasized that he is a noble person who is close to national ideas. 
Professor Hasan Sadigov expressed his gratitude to the President, head of the Executive Power of Sumgayit city and the rector of Sumgayit State University for appreciation. He noted that he was granted several awards for many times. But this award is the supreme during his jubilee. Hasan Sadigov pointed out that Sumgayit State University is an educational institution with its history demonstrating the achievements among higher educational institutions. This University was instituted in 1962. It provided industrial and educational institutions with highly qualified cadres not only in Azerbaijan, but also the former Soviet Union and several foreign countries. Sumgayit State University was established on the basis of Azerbaijan Institute of Industry by the order dated June 13, 2000 “On improving education system in the Republic of Azerbaijan” of Heydar Aliyev who was aware of the role of Sumgayit in public life of our republic and cared about desires and wishes of people of Sumgayit.  From that day new development stage started in social-cultural life of Sumgayit. After this order a great resurgence began in educational institutions of the city and perspectives of development dynamics were determined. Also, Sumgayit State University turned to be one of the prestigious higher educational institutions with its dynamic growth. I am proud of dedicating 56 years of my life to the sole University of our city.
