KHOJALY GENOCIDE - A TRAGEDY OF HUMAN HISTORY
For 200 years, the people of Azerbaijan have been endured to the policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide by Armenian nationalists, expelled from their historical lands, become refugees and internally displaced persons, and all this has been accompanied by massacres by Armenians. The expulsion of Azerbaijanis from their historical and ethnic lands continued during the Soviet era. In 1919, the ADR government declared March 31- national mourning day in order to perpetuate the memory of our compatriots.. In 1948-1953, 150,000 Azerbaijanis deported from Armenia were settled in the Kur-Araz lowland of Azerbaijan. In 1988, 250,000 Azerbaijanis living in their historical lands were expelled from the area, and Armenia became a mono-ethnic state. The events around Nagorno-Karabakh since 1988 have resulted in the destruction of villages, towns, the death of tens of thousands of innocent people, and the expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis from their historical lands. Contrary to all norms of international law, Armenia wanted to annex Nagorno-Karabakh, demonstrating that they are ready for all crimes and atrocities. The Khojaly genocide, a tragedy of the 20th century, is the result of this aggressive and criminal Armenian policy. This tragedy, which took place at the end of the twentieth century, is one of the gravest crimes against not only the people of Azerbaijan, but all humanity. The Khojaly genocide coincides with the terrible tragedies of the century, such as Khatin, Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Songmi.
The main goal of the Armenians by targeting the city of Khojaly is to eliminate the strategically important obstacle in the mountainous part of Karabakh, consisting of Azerbaijanis, and on the other hand, to wipe out Khojaly forever. Because Khojaly was such a settlement that it reflected the historical and cultural traditions of Azerbaijan from ancient times to modern times. This special culture has gone down in history as the Khojaly-Gadabay culture. The cromlexes, dolmens, cyclops, mounds and other monuments of Khojaly, as well as various types of household items are examples of material culture that reflect the dynamics of development of human society.
The destruction of all these material cultural monuments after the Armenian occupation and the destruction of the Khojaly graveyard by technics, one of the oldest graveyards in the world, is a clear example of Armenian vandalism, as well as an act of violence against world culture.
On February 16, 1992, a company called the "Secret Armenian Front" was established under the 366th Regiment in Khankendi. The core of this was the Armenians of
Lebanon, Canada, Iran, Sweden and other countries. On February 17, a group of girls snipers called "Shushanik" joined the front. These Armenian girls came from Lebanon.
Khachik Vartanyan was assigned to lead the secret Armenian front. At that time, the heads of 36 well-known Armenian companies donated $ 470,000 to the Secret Armenian Front.
On January 23, 1992, 194 servicemen were discharged from the 366th Regiment by fake order No. 93/5. The demobilized are Georgians, Tatars, Belarusians, Turkmens, Kazakhs and Lezgins. They were replaced by specially trained members of Armenian descent.
On February 9, 1992, a telephone message arrived from the Ministry of Defense addressed to the commander of the 366th Regiment, General Zavigarov. The telegram, received at around 4:00 p.m., stated that soldiers serving in the regiment would be paid a monthly wage instead of the prize , and that officers would be provided with new housing anywhere in Russia.
At 9:15 pm on February 24, 1992, Zavigarov addressed the officers, saying that the war was not for lands in the region, was a war of Islam against Christianity.
Armenians on the night of February 25-26, 1992, with the help of the Russian armed forces, the next crime against humanity - the Khojaly tragedy - was the genocide committed by Armenians against the Azerbaijani people. The purpose of these savage executioners was to destroy the entire population of the city. However, as a result of coincidences, a number of Khojaly residents survived.
International conventions and universal laws condemn genocides such as the Khojaly tragedy and say they are unacceptable. Guided by the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide of December 9, 1948, the people of Azerbaijan have every legal basis to file a lawsuit against the Republic of Armenia in the UN International Court of Justice. The world should know that this crime is directed not only against the Azerbaijani people, but also against humanity. Armenia"s military-political aggression must be condemned by the world community. International organizations and parliaments of the world countries must give an international political and legal assessment to the war crime committed by the Republic of Armenia in Azerbaijan - the Khojaly genocide, as a real genocide.
Dear Supreme Commander-in-Chief and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly stated in his speeches: “The aim is to give an international legal and political assessment to the Khojaly tragedy expose and punish its organizers, ideologues and executors in the world community. On the one hand, this is our human and civic duty to the souls of the defenders and martyrs of Khojaly. On the other hand, it is an important condition that such atrocities against humanity should not repeated in the future.
"In particular, President Ilham Aliyev said: “The ethnic cleansing carried out by the Armenian Dashnaks against our people in Khojaly is assessed as one of the bloodiest pages of the policy of genocide. For my part, I accept the Khojaly massacre, one of the most horrific tragedies of the 20th century, and wish patience to the Azerbaijani people . May God bless our compatriots who were killed in the Khojaly tragedy.
